Mike Drury – Head Coach
This is Coach Drury’s 11th year as the Head Coach of the Blue Knights. Coach Drury is a graduate of Bristol Central High School, where he was named Captain and earned All-State honors in both Football and Wrestling. He then went on to play college football at Marist College, where he started for four years at Linebacker. He served as Captain in 2004, while earning 1st Team All-MAAC and All-American honors. In 2013 Coach Drury received State Coach of the Year honors for the New Haven Register and National Football Foundation Northern Chapter. In 2014, he received State Coach of the Year for the Walter Camp Foundation. In addition, the 2014 SHS Blue Knights were ranked #1 in the State.
In addition to coaching football, Coach Drury has also coached wrestling and track and field. He is a firm believer in the positive impact high school sports have on student athletes as part of the overall educational experience. He believes that hard work and dedication leads to success with one’s family, in the classroom, in the community and on the football field.
Coach Drury is also active at the state level for the sport of football where he has served on the CHSCA Football Committee and coached in several State All-Star Games. Coach Drury lives in Bristol with his wife Deann and their son’s George (4) and Murphy (11mths).
Coach Drury also teaches special education at Southington High School.
Coach Chuck Drury – Running Backs Coach
Coach Chuck Drury has been involved in football as a player or coach for close to 60 years. He began as a youth football player in West Hartford, played 4 years at Northwest Catholic and 4 years at Southern Connecticut. Chuck has coached football at the high school level every year for the past 46 years. He was an assistant at Bristol Eastern, Bristol Central and Pomperaug . He was the Head Football Coach at Pomperaug for 26 years, retiring in 2011. Chuck is currently an Assistant at Southington working under his son, Mike.
While at Bristol Central, Chuck was also the Head Wrestling and Head Girls Track coach. Chuck was the Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Bristol Central for 11 years and won a State Championship in 1990. While at Pomperaug, Chuck was Head Wrestling and Head Girls Track Coach for 10 years. He was an Assistant Girls Basketball Coach for 5 years, Assistant Football Coach for 8 years and was the Head Football Coach at Pomperaug for 26 years. Chuck’s football teams made 6 appearances in the state football playoffs, earning 1 state championship, 1 runner up state championship and 3 league titles. Chuck has lived in Bristol for over 25 years. He has been married to his wife Clare, for 48 years. They have 4 children, Chuck, Matt, Danielle and Mike, and 8 grandchildren.
Coach Drury believes that football teaches players the value of preparation and the rewards of working together for a common goal. He loves the challenge of preparation for the game, the sport’s mental and physical toughness and the strong feeling of camaraderie from working with players, coaches and opponents.
Frank Stamilio – Quarterbacks Coach
Frank Stamilio recently completed his 32nd year coaching football at the high school level in Connecticut. Coach Stamilio has coached for the storied Blue Knight football program 22 years as the Offensive Coordinator under Head Coaches Jude Kelly and Bill Mella and as the Quarterbacks Coach under current Head Coach Mike Drury. Stamilio also had coaching stops at New Britain High School working for Paul Morrell and with again Jude Kelly at Saint Paul Catholic High School.
Coach Stamilio has built a distinguished reputation for developing Connecticut State record holder quarterbacks. He has tutored a number QBs that have gone on to play at the collegiate level. He has played an instrumental role in the evolution of the spread offense in Connecticut high school football and was one of the architects of the famed high octane Blue Knight “Air Raid” offense.
For the past 21 years Stamilio has been the Clinic Director of the very successful New England NIKE Coach of the Year football clinics for high school and youth football coaches. Frank and his wife Rose are long time Southington residents and all of their children are Southington High School graduates
Rob Levesque – Defensive Coordinator
Rob Levesque is entering his 15th year as a Health/Physical Education Teacher at Southington High School. He is a 1999 graduate of Berlin High School where he was a 4 year member of the football and wrestling teams. After high school Coach Levesque wrestled and played rugby for Plymouth State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Upon graduating from PSU in 2003 Coach Levesque, began his teaching and coaching career while earning his masters from Central Connecticut State University.
Coach Levesque has 17 years of coaching experiences and over 36 seasons as a high school varsity coach in Football, Wrestling Track and Field and Lacrosse. Among Coach Levesque’s numerous coaching experiences he most recently served as the Defensive Coordinator for the Berlin High football team, where he helped lead them to 3 state final appearances. Also as the head wrestling coach for Glastonbury High School, Coach Levesque accumulated over a 150 career wins and coached several individual State and New England Champions. Coach Levesque would like to thank his biggest fans; wife Kim, daughter Kendall , and son Kooper for all their love and support.
Bill Liquindoli (Coach Liq) - Defensive Line Coach
Coach Liq graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury in 1983. He was a two time All-City, All NVL and All-State selection as offensive guard. He also lettered in baseball and track where he was All-State in discus in 1982. Coach Liq continued his education at Central CT State University, studying physical education. He was a four-year starter as an offensive guard, elected co-captain his senior year and earning All New England honors.
He started his coaching career as a grad-assistant, coaching offensive line at CCSU in 1988. Then he returned to his alma mater, Sacred Heart High, as permanent substitute teacher and coaching O and D lines for four years. In 1990. In 1993, Coach Liq took a break from coaching as he began his law enforcement career. Upon retirement in 2014, he returned to the coaching field with the CT Chiefs of the Semi-Pro New England football league.
In 2017 he returned to his true passion of coaching high school football with Wolcott High School, coaching linebackers. He is in his 4th year coaching Defensive line with SHS. Coach Liq resides in North Haven with his wife Ellen. They have two daughters Rachel and Natalie, both alumni of SHS.
Max Connolly – Defensive Line Coach, Head JV Coach
Coach Connolly is a former Blue Knight Football player. He graduated Southington High School in 2007. Coach Connolly is the JV Head Football Coach. He is currently a Social Studies Teacher at Southington High School. Coach Connolly lives in Southington.
Travis Swim - Linebackers and Special Teams Coordinator
Coach Swim has spent the majority of his career in the western portion of the state, working primarily as a Defensive Coordinator in the South-West Conference at Pomperaug and New Milford. Last season, Coach Swim was part of a defensive turnaround at neighboring Wolcott, helping the Eagles regain a birth in the Class M Football playoffs.
As a player, Coach Swim was a two-time All-South-West Conference and Danbury News-Times All-Area Defensive Tackle at New Milford. For his senior campaign in 2001, he was named Class L All-State First Team Defensive Tackle, and his team was runner-up in the South-West Conference Championship.
Recently Coach Swim began his 14th year of teaching in the Social Studies Department at New Milford High School. He lives in the Marion section of Southington with his wife, Dustinne, and two children, Rex and Josie.
Devin Mannion – Offensive Line
Devin Mannion: Devin is entering his 5th year on the Blue Knight staff, and he will be working with the Offensive Line. Prior to coming to Southington, Devin was a volunteer coach with the 8th grade Cheshire Junior Football Team. He was a two-year starter on the offensive and defensive lines at Cheshire High School. During his senior season, Devin was elected captain and earned All-SCC Division 1 and All-State honors. Along with football, Devin was a three-year starter for the boy’s rugby team, winning a New England Championship in 2007.
After graduating high school in 2008, Devin attended the University of Connecticut. He was a four-year starter on the men’s rugby team. He graduated Magna cum Laude in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and that fall he enrolled in Quinnipiac University's School of Education.
In the fall of 2013, he put his studies on hold to enter the United States Marine Corps. After completing Officer Candidate School in the fall of 2013, Devin earned his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. He then completed The Basic School and the Infantry Officer Course in 2014. Now a 1st Lieutenant, he is an infantry platoon commander in the Marine Corps Reserves. Devin completed his teaching certification and Master’s Degree in 2015. He currently teaches English at North Haven High School.
Steve Barmore – Offensive Assistant Coach
Stephen Barmore is entering his 3rd year on the Blue Knights coaching staff. A former captain of the Southington football, basketball, and track teams, he is the winningest quarterback in program history with 31 wins.
He was named All-New England in track and All-State in football in his junior year. He was named Hal Levy Sports Writers' Alliance Connecticut State Athlete of the Year in 2013, along with Hartford Courant offensive football player of the year, All-State, and CIAC football scholar athlete of the year honors. He was also named MVP of the 2013 Class LL state championship game, was President of the SHS National Honor Society, and won the SHS Leadership Award for the class of 2014. He currently holds the SHS 100-meter record, and places in the top 5 of almost all SHS passing records.
Stephen played college football at Yale University, where he played quarterback, running back, and defensive back. He graduated from Yale in 2018 with a B.S. in Cognitive Science. He will serve as a general offensive assistant on this year’s staff.
Alex Jamele – Wide Receivers Coach
Alex Jamele is in his 3rd year coaching with the Blue Knights. Alex is a former Blue Knight Captain. He graduated Southington High School in 2015 after a prolific career at wide receiver. Alex was a key part of back-to-back State Championships in 2013 & 2014.
He is the current State record holder for receiving touchdowns in a season (29) and a career (50). Alex went on to play football at Central Connecticut State University and earned a degree in Manufacturing.
Andy Pettola – Wide Receivers Coach
Andy Pettola is Southington resident of 15 years. He is a graduate of SCSU, class of ’93 and played Cornerback and Slot WR for Notre Dame HS. He was a SVMFL youth football coach for over 10 years and is the SVP of Envoy Mortgage. His family consists of his wife of 16 years, Terri, his daughter Samantha and his sons Cody and “Chopper”.
Paul Phillipon – Defensive Backs Coach
Paul has 29 years of coaching experience at the high school and college levels and has vast experience on both sides of the ball. He led Bristol Eastern as Head Coach from 2004-2008 and led the team to back-to-back undefeated CCC South Division Championships in 2007 & 2008 and class L playoff berth in 2007.
He took over at Canton High School in 2012 and helped guide the program from an 0-10 in 2011 to consecutive winning seasons and a 10-1 season in 2014, a division title and Class S playoff berth. In 2011 he served as the D.B. coach at Trinity College and has served as an OC (Bristol Eastern, Glastonbury, Canton) as well as a D.C. (Conard, Bristol Eastern).
He helped Glastonbury achieve a10-1 record and a LL State Final Playoff Berth in 2010 as the O.C. He was a teammate of Southington D.L. Coach Liqiundoli in 1986 at CCSU and earned the starting TE position as a walk-on.
Mark Threlkeld – Defensive Line Assistant
Mark graduate from Southington High school in 2016 and was a member of the program for four years where he played defensive and offensive line.
Mark went on to play Club Football at Sacred Heart University for four years earning his degree from there. Mark is joining the staff for his first year and currently resides in Southington, CT.
Steve Daniels – Statistician
Steve graduated from Southington High School in 1975. While attending SHS he was a member of the Blue Knights wrestling team. Steve has been a part of the Blue Knights Football program for more than 30 years. He has served several years as Treasurer of the original Gridiron Club.
As the team’s loyal statistician, Steve has tallied hundreds of tackles, receptions and touchdowns for the Blue Knights program and coaching staff. His diligent work has kept us in touch with all the records from the past. He is highly regarded by sports writers throughout the state.
Recently he was honored with a Sports Writers’ award. Steve has also been inducted into the Order of the Blue Knight. Thanks Steve! Your hard work and support to our team is truly appreciated by all.
